The firm was founded by Robert J. Emanuel, a third generation attorney who has been practicing law in Chicago since he was admitted to the Illinois bar in 1995. A veteran of large law firms, Bob is a business litigator with deep experience representing financial institutions in class and individual consumer financial services matters. He also has extensive experience advising financial institutions and related entities on regulatory matters under the Truth in Lending Act, the Fair Credit Reporting Act, the Fair Debt Collections Practices Act, and the Equal Credit Opportunity Act, among others.

In addition to his financial services work, Bob has represented a host of small and medium businesses over the years in contract disputes, employment matters, commercial landlord-tenant matters, and other types of cases. These clients include several architectural firms, restaurants, consulting firms, a small auto repair chain, a Chicago-based grocery store chain, and a wine retailer. Bob serves as outside general counsel for several of these entities.

Bob has been recognized as a “Leading Lawyer” in the area of Banking and Financial Institutions law several times. He is also very dedicated to the Chicago community and has served on the board of directors for the Illinois Mortgage Bankers Association, Archeworks, and Build, a Chicago based non-profit serving at-risk youth in Chicago’s hardest hit neighborhoods.
